Pinellas Park Redevelopment District

Pinellas Park Redevelopment District

Park Station General Location: The Pinellas Park Redevelopment District is generally bounded by 34th Street on the east and 67th Street on the west, with 78th Avenue as the primary northern boundary and 70th Avenue as the primary southern boundary. The 49th Street axis of the district extends from 86th Avenue on the North and the CSX Railroad ROW on the South and is situated between 52nd Street and 46th Street. See map.

District Type: Mixed-Use District

Assets: Situated at the intersection of four major regional transportation facilities (U.S. 19, 49th Street, 66th Street, and Park Boulevard) the primary asset of the district is easy access. This attribute is demonstrated by the development of a new 530,000 square foot open-air shopping center, two new townhome complexes with over 400 homes, the St. Petersburg College Caruth Health Education Center, and the new 16,000 square foot Park Station.

Land Use: More than half of the district has the CRD land use designation. This designation encourages flexibility and a mix of uses. The remainder is divided between industrial, commercial, and residential uses.

Public Investments: Enhancements made along Park Boulevard include landscaping and median improvements, overhead wire relocation, street-lighting improvements and Park Station – which hosts the Chamber of Commerce, local art society, and the historical society. Land has also been purchased to further enhance the drainage improvements that are currently under construction. In addition, the countywide transit authority plans to enhance bus service on U.S. 19, Park Boulevard, and 66th Street, and construct a Park ‘N Ride facility near the former mall.
